Finding your COA

Your batch number is printed on the vial label and again on the dispatch note included with your order. The batch number takes the format BATCH-YYMM-NNN, where YY is the year, MM is the month of production, and NNN is the sequence number within that month.

The current production batch COA can be requested through the COA request form below or directly from the product page on this website. Each request is reviewed and the relevant documentation is sent to verified institutional contacts.

For historical batches no longer in active production, institutional buyers can request documentation by emailing [email protected] with the compound name and batch number. Requests are fulfilled within 48 hours on working days, and earlier where the requesting institution has a documentation framework agreement in place with NMChem.

Understanding the Certificate of Analysis

HPLC purity

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separates the compound from related impurities and quantifies the proportion of the target peptide in the sample. The industry standard for research-grade peptides is 98% or higher; NMChem's internal release threshold is 98.0%, with most batches releasing above 99%. The remaining percentage typically represents related peptide fragments produced during synthesis, residual counterion (commonly trifluoroacetate or acetate), and trace residual solvent. The COA reports the area-percent purity from a UV detector, with the chromatogram available on request.

Mass spectrometry identity confirmation

Mass spectrometry (MS) confirms that the molecular weight of the released compound matches the theoretical mass of the expected peptide sequence. This is the single most reliable check against gross mislabelling, miscoupling, or incorrect sequence assembly. MS is run alongside HPLC, never instead of it — the two techniques answer different questions. HPLC tells you how pure the sample is; MS tells you whether the compound you have purified is the correct one.

UKAS accreditation

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is the national accreditation body that assesses laboratories against ISO/IEC 17025. A UKAS-accredited laboratory has demonstrated technical competence and a quality management system that produces traceable, reproducible results. For the researcher, this means the data on the COA is independently validated rather than self-reported. NMChem can provide the testing laboratory's UKAS accreditation reference number and scope on request from any institutional buyer.

Requesting raw data

HPLC chromatograms and MS spectra are available to institutional buyers on written request. They are provided in PDF format with the chromatogram, integration table, method conditions, and analyst details. Typical turnaround is 48 to 72 hours during working days, depending on the age of the batch and whether the data is held on the laboratory's live system or in long-term archive.

Request documentation

For documentation requests, please email [email protected] with the compound name, batch number, and the institution making the request. Requests from registered institutions are prioritised and typically completed within one working day.
